My Top 5 Apps During This Quarantine

Being mandated to stay inside has been difficult for me.  Which is odd because I'm an introvert, and I like being at home. However not having the option to go hang out with friends or run my errands is the challenging part. Thank God for technology! Aside from reading and spending time with my family, I spend most of my time on my MacBook or my phone. Below are my top 5 apps I have been using to past time during this lockdown.

1.  Amazon

My online (window) has hit an all time high. I'm literally on Amazon everyday searching for random things to add to my list. Everything from clothes, books down to bulk sizes of Sour Patch Bites. I figured that window shopping is a lot less harmless than actually ordering these items, which is what I would normally do if Prime was still doing free 2-day shipping. In a way I feel productive, because a good amount of these items are things I need for my blog, such as flat lay kits, room decor and camera equipment. I will always a find a way to justify my shopping lol.

2. Prime Video

Hulu & Netflix can go along with this app as well. I've been spending this time catching up on some of my favorite shows and getting into new series. Since the quarantine I have binged watch the entire season of  A Different World on Amazon Prime. I have gotten all caught up on Grown ish on Hulu, and reliving my childhood with Living Single. Netflix has been so clutch with these new series ( well new to me). I've watched most of the independent black films. Tiger King ( I'm not proud of this lol) My latest binge has been Once Upon A Time. Who knew fairytales could pack so much suspense.

3. Pinterest

This app is the culprit behind all my window shopping on Amazon. I go there to look at pretty pictures and get inspiration and before you know it I'm on Amazon adding those inspo items to my list. I also use Pinterest as a digital vision board. Last week I added a Brunch Spot board where I intend to share pictures of all the places I will brunch once we are freed. Until then I will be pouring mimosas at home and scrolling through pretty pictures of brunch layouts.

4. Instagram

Our favorite attention distractor/ productive/ passing time app. I'm guilty of being on here just about all day everyday. I like to be noisy checking everyone's stories to see what they're up to. Sometimes I'm actually productive on here. I'll search for new bloggers to follow. Look for inspiration on how to style my own feed and search for blog topics. However most of the time ya'll, I'm just being noisy lol.

5. Over Drive

This one I just found out about last week through a friend. It's like having access to any public library via your phone. Just as you would at the physical locations, you can use your library card to check out books. Some books are available right away, some if they're more popular may require a wait period. This app is definitely clutch for all my bookworms out there who are suffering because libraries are closed right now.

Before I end this post, I want to say, however you decide to spend this time is totally up to you. Don't let anyone guilt trip you into not learning a new skill or being productive. This quarantine has allowed many of us to destress from the constant demands of our jobs. So if you want to lay around and binge watch your favorite shows on Netflix while scrolling through Instagram all day, do it. Take this time to do whatever you need to do for yourself and your sanity.

See ya in my next post!
